 In the world of perfumery MUSK is a magical word. It is an animal scent, warm, sweet and extremely long lasting. The essence was originally extracted from a gland of the musk deer from Tibet, China and Nepal. This smell has a sexual attraction to females and this is the reason why it is considered an erotic perfume. Animal extract has now been replaced with synthetic products, in order to avoid the extinction of this deer. The results in perfumery are as good if not better than the original fragrance. However the origins of Musk are still surrounded by myths and legends. At the end of the 1960's, the wind of change blew across the world, as young people rose against the rules of previous generations. Music changed, habits changed, fashion changed. Young people no longer wanted the sophisticated fragrances worn by their parents, but embraced the simple ones whose roots lay in oriental culture. The hippies and the flower children bought the fashionable essential oils, and in 1969 ALYSSA ASHLEY launched their first product, MUSK Oil by ALYSSA ASHLEY.
