Benylin Children's Chesty Coughs
Guaifenesin is an expectorant, which means that it helps to loosen mucus (phlegm) from the lungs and make it easier to cough up.
Benylin Children's Chesty Coughs is used for the treatment of children's productive coughs.
Drug Interaction Precautions :
Benylin Chesty Coughs is suitable for most children, but a few children should not take it. Ask yourself the following questions to check whether Benylin Children's Chesty Coughs is suitable for your child.
Has your child ever had a reaction to Benylin Childrens Chesty Coughs or any of its ingredients?
Does your child suffer from liver or kidney disease?
Does your child suffer from a persistent cough such as occurs with asthma?
If you answer yes to any of these questions, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before you give your child Benylin Children's Chesty Coughs.
The following advice is included in case an older child or adult is taking the medicine.
As with all medecines, if you are pregnant or breast-feeding, consult your pharmacist or doctor before taking this product.
Directions
Benylin Children's Chesty Coughs
Children 1 To 5 Years
Give one 5 ml spoonful four times a day. Maximum daily dose 20 ml.
Children Aged 6 To 12 Years
Give two 5 ml spoonfuls four times a day. Maximum daily dose 40 ml.
Children Under One Year Old
Not recommended.
If you forget to give a dose, give it as soon as you remember, unless it is time for the next dose. Do not give two doses at the same time.
Warnings
Benylin Children's Chesty Coughs
If your child accidentally takes too much medicine tell your doctor at once. If you cannot do this, go to the nearest hospital accident and emergency (casualty) department. Take along any medicine that is left, the bottle and the label, so that the hospital staff can easily tell what medicine your child has taken.
Side-effects are not common with Benylin Children's Chesty Coughs, and when they do occur, are usually mild. If your child gets any unusual effects, stop giving your child the medicine and tell your doctor or pharmacist at once.
