Canesten Combi Pessary & Cream 2%

Canesten combi pessary and cream consists of a Canesten 500mg pessary, which is inserted inside the vagina, and Canesten thrush cream, which is applied to the outside of the vagina (vulva and labia). Both contain the active ingredient clotrimazole, which is an antifungal medicine used to treat infections with fungi and yeasts.

Vaginal thrush is the common term for infections of the vagina with Candida species of fungi, in particular Candida albicans. This infection causes inflammation and discharge from the vagina. Canesten thrush cream contains 2% clotrimazole. It is applied to the outside of the vagina (vulva and labia) to help provide immediate relief from the external symptoms of the infection, such as itching, inflammation and soreness.
 
Do not use Canesten Combi Pessary & Cream but consult your doctor if this is the first time you have had symptoms of vaginal thrush.

Canesten Combi Pessary & Cream 2%

Dosage: 16-60 years of age: Wash your hands before and after using the pessary and cream. Insert the pessary into the vagina at night using the applicator provided and apply the cream 2 or 3 times daily to the affected area. Under 16 and over 60 years: not recommended except on medical advice.

We would advise that you apply this cream every day until at least 7-10 days after symptoms have disappeared, to avoid the infection returning. Please see your doctor if symptoms do not start to improve within the first few days.

If symptoms persist for more than 7 days, see your doctor. Do not use if you are pregnant, trying for a baby or breast feeding. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any medicine other than the contraceptive pill and if you are aged under 16 or over 60.

Canesten Combi Pessary & Cream 2%

The 10g tube of cream contains Clotrimazole 200mg (2% w/w). It also contains sorbitan stearate, polysorbate 60, cetyl palmitate, cetostearyl alcohol, octyldodecanol, benzyl alcohol and purified water.
 

The pessary contains Clotrimazole 500mg. It also contains lactose monohydrate, Microcrystalline cellulose, Lactic Acid, maize starch, povidone, calcium lactate pentahydrate, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide and hypromellose.
