Native to the Mediterranean, Milk Thistle grows throughout Europe but is rare in the UK. It is normally found growing wild on waste ground and is sometimes cultivated as an ornamental plant.

Recent research has confirmed traditional herbal knowledge that Milk Thistle has remarkable ability to protect the liver from damage resulting from alcohol abuse and other type of attack such as jaundice and hepatitis.
