Persona Monitor with Test Sticks
With over 100 scientists Unipath Research is at the forefront of women's diagnostics, both at home and in the surgery. For over 15 years we have been dedicated to the research and development of Persona. Every element of Persona has undergone extensive testing and passes the most rigorous examination. On most days of the month you don't need to use a contraceptive. By monitoring changes in your personal hormone levels Persona can tell you when those days are.
Persona is made up of simple, disposable urine test sticks and a small hand held monitor. The monitor reads the test sticks, learns about your monthly cylce and gives you contraceptive advice each day. You only need to test 8 days each cycle except for the first cycle when you're required to test 16 times.
Warning: Persona must be used according to the enclosed instructions. Persona offers no protection from sexually transmitted infections or HIV, the virus which causes Aids. Based on independent trials Persona is 94% reliable when used according to instructions and as the only method of contraception. This means that if 100 women use Persona for one year, 6 are expected to become pregnant as a result of sex on green days due to Persona incorrectly identifying their fertile days. No method of contraception can provide 100% protection against pregnancy. Persona is only suitable for women whose natural monthly cycle normally lasts between 23 and 35 days. (Cycle length is calculated from the day one period starts to the day before the next period starts). You must not use Persona if you are breast feeding, have experienced menopausal symptoms are using hormonal treatments (eg hormonal contraception, fertiilty treatments or hormone replacement or hormone replacement therapy), or any other treatments that may affect your cycle, are taking antibiotics containing tetracyclines, (except oxytetracycline and doxycycline which can be used, if you have any doubts about whether the antibiotics you are taking contains tetracyclines, please consult your pharmacist or doctor) or if you have impaired liver or kidney function, or polycystic ovarian syndrome.
Persona is not recommended for women for whom pregnancy is totally unacceptable. If you have recently been or are currently using hormonal contraception (eg the pill), or any other treatments that affect your cycle, (eg emergency contraception by your doctor, and then must wait until your cycles return to normal, ie until you have had at least two natural, consecutive monthly cycles (each lasting 23 / 35 days) and your third period starts before using P. If you do not wait, the reliability of Persona will be significantly reduced. If you have recently been pregnant, even if not carried to full term), or breast feeding, you must wait until your cycles return to normal before using Persona, see above. Please consult your doctor or pharmacist for further advice.
Directions
Persona Monitor with Test Sticks
Simply open the monitor first thing each morning to see which of the coloured lights is shining.
Green Means you have the freedom to enjoy making love without using a contraceptive.
Red Means that you are at significant risk of becoming pregnant so you should avoid making love. Once Persona has learnt about your cycle it will typically identify 6 / 12 red days each cycle.
The reliability of Persona is dependant upon abstinence on red days. The risk of pregnancy is considerably greater if you have sex on a red day even if you use a barrier method of contraception, eg a condom.
Yellow Means that Persona needs more information and that you need to do a urine test to find out if it's a green or red day.
