Revlon was founded in 1932, by Charles Revson and his brother Joseph, along with a chemist, Charles Lachman, who contributed the "L" in the REVLON name. Starting with a single product - a nail enamel unlike any before it that used colour pigment instead of dyes - the three founders pooled their meager resources and developed a unique manufacturing process. Revlon's nail enamel line took off and allowed the company to expand very quickly, Revlon bought out a range of lipsticks using similar pigment techniques that were again a sensation. Revlon were notorious for their inspiring advertising campaigns, the models used had celebrity stautus from their Revlon adverts alone. Revlon were one of the first companies to use colour posters which further excelled their expansion with both men and women being drawn into the Revlon craze.
